Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2018) – Trey Starks highlighted the Champion Racing Oil National Open with a sixth-place run last Friday at Williams Grove Speedway, where he garnered his career-best result with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

The Gobrecht Motorsports driver qualified fourth quickest in his group, which earned a front row starting position in a heat race.

“It’s always nice when a track stays even throughout qualifying and Williams Grove seemed to do that last weekend,” he said. “Qualifying as well as we did really set up the rest of our night.”

Starks finished where he started – second – in a heat race to advance into a dash. He gained a position in the dash to finish third, which lined him up on the outside of the third row for the 27-lap main event.

“Your goal is to start in the first few rows of the main event so you have to qualify well and run well in a heat race and dash,” he said. “It’s a lot easier to maintain than it is to drive through the field to get a top 10.

“We got up to fourth early. It seemed like the restarts hurt us for most of the race. We’d always start on the inside and lose a spot or two. The last restart went our way and we were able to gain two or three positions to finish strong.”

Starks brought home a sixth-place outing, which marked his second top 10 of the season and fifth career with the World of Outlaws.

Unfortunately, the weekend ended early with mechanical problems during qualifying on Saturday.

Starks plans on racing this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway and Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., during the Dirt Classic.
