Inside Line Promotions – LASALLE, Ill. (Sept. 25, 2018) – Kerry Madsen has had a tremendous last three weeks of racing with the IRA Sprint Car Series.
The Big Game Motorsports driver earned four feature victories in a five-race stretch, including three straight triumphs capped by a win last Friday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis.
“We’re getting a good feeling back in the car,” he said. “As a team we’re making really good progress. There were some good cars at all those shows and some really good competition. It wasn’t easy.”
Madsen qualified 11th quickest before he won a heat race on Friday at Beaver Dam Raceway.
“We messed up qualifying, but we won the heat to get in the feature redraw and then we pulled the No. 2 to start second,” he said. “The track was pretty slick with a cushion. The polesitter had the lead for about five laps. Once we got to traffic I passed him. The race went non-stop so it was a good race. I didn’t have any problems. The lines were pretty open for us through traffic.”
Madsen led the majority of the feature to garner his eight victory of the season.
The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at LaSalle Speedway, where the Muddy backed team set quick time during qualifying. Madsen advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to make the feature redraw. This time he pulled the No. 7 to start the IRA Series and MOWA Series A Main on the inside of the fourth row.
“I got a pretty good start,” he said. “The car felt really, really good. For whatever reason a car came out and knocked our front axle out and then we got hit from behind. That was pretty disappointing. It was a racing incident and on a short track that’s easy to happen.”
Madsen was battling for a top five when the incident occurred only a handful of laps into the feature. He was credited with a 23rd-place finish.
