Inside Line Promotions – DUNDEE, N.Y. (Sept. 25, 2018) – Joe Trenca loves racing at Outlaw Speedway and after his performance at the oval last Saturday it’s easy to see why.
The Mucci Motorsports driver charged from sixth to a runner-up result during a Patriot Sprint Tour heat race to kick off the Outlaw Fall Nationals.
“We had a really good heat race,” he said. “I ripped the top. There was some real estate up there and I used it up where the other drivers weren’t. We didn’t get to second until about two laps to go.”
Trenca then started the A Main on the outside of the fourth row.
“We were really good in traffic and didn’t need the cautions,” he said. “We had just passed fourth and were battling for third when we had a caution so we had to go back to fifth. I think without that caution we could have been on the podium. It is what it is. We’ll gladly come out of there with a fourth-place finish.
“We were definitely happy about it. It was a big race and we had a good showing. The competition was really good. There were at least 25 really good cars so to come out of there with a top five was great.”
The fourth-place result was Trenca’s second-best finish of the season and it marked his second top five of the year.
“I’m learning a lot more these past two months and am really understanding the car more,” he said. “We’ve scaled back racing and we’re just trying to have some fun.”
Trenca will take this weekend off before returning to action on Oct. 6 at Fulton Speedway in Fulton, N.Y., with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
