Bacon Going Full “Macho Man” at Eldora after Bagging Ninth Win of the Year!

Lonnie Wheatley, WINCHESTER, Ind. (September 20, 2018) – One doesn’t get tabbed with the “Macho Man” moniker for no reason.

That will be put on display this weekend as Brady Bacon will get in five full events over the course of two nights at Eldora Speedway’s “Four Crown Nationals” near Rossburg, Ohio. The weekend begins with a night of World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Friday before the “Four Crown” on Saturday in which Bacon will compete in all four portions that includes USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars, USAC Silver Crown and winged 410’s with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

“It’s not too hard really,” Bacon says of the challenge of driving four different cars in a single night. “We have got pretty good at it, it’s something that we’ve done a few years now.”

Bacon has accomplished in all four disciplines and enters the weekend coming off of his ninth overall triumph of the year in last Friday night’s USAC Sprint Car “Jim Hurtubise Classic” at the Terre Haute Action Track.

The Broken Arrow, OK, native had a weekend sweep in sight at Haubstadt’s Tri-State Speedway only to get caught up in a tangle when another car lost power immediately ahead of him as he chased down the leaders.

Bacon’s second career Hurtubise Classic triumph on Friday was his fourth USAC Sprint Car win of the season.

“We had a really good car at Terre Haute,” Bacon says. “We’ve changed a few things along the way and we just have a really good car everywhere right now.”

Bacon opened the Terre Haute card by timing in second quickest and then racing up to second in his heat race. He then needed just a half dozen laps to race from fifth into the lead of the 30-lap feature and led the rest of the way to take the win.

“We were good, Ballou was the only one that was close to us and we were able to hold him off,” Bacon says.

After picking up a $15,000 USAC Midget win just eight days earlier at the “BC39”, Bacon is getting a hot hand at the right time.

“We can win a lot of money from here to the end of the year with a lot of big paying races, so this is a good time to get momentum,” Bacon explains.

Bacon carried that momentum to Haubstadt, IN, on Saturday and had another $10,000 payday in his sights until misfortune struck.

“I was running third and one of the guys ahead of me blew up and stalled,” Bacon recalls. “I ran over him and flipped.”

After some hasty repairs, Bacon returned to salvage a 14th-place finish on the night.

Bacon looks to get into double digits in the win column with this weekend’s handful of races at Eldora’s “Four Crown Nationals”. And, if last year’s Four Crown is any indication, the odds of a Bacon win or two or more is a strong possibility.

Last year, Bacon finished among the top five in all four Saturday night “Four Crown” features including a win in the All Star portion along with a USAC Sprint Car runner-up finish, a USAC Midget third-place run and a fifth-place USAC Silver Crown outing.
