26 Promotions – Queen Creek, AZ – (September 19, 2018) – Jarrett Martin scored his best finish with the ASCS Southwest Region this year on Saturday at Arizona Speedway.

“As a team, I think we all had high hopes for Saturday. Our new shock package helped out a ton, plus I’m only getting more and more comfortable in the car with every race,” Martin said. “After hot laps, I really noticed that the car felt a lot more stable than most nights. We knew it was going to be tough starting in the back of the heat because it is crucial to get enough points to make the redrew.”

Starting sixth in the first heat, Martin quickly drove into third by the exit of turn two on the opening lap and challenged for second before the caution flag waved.

“I noticed while pacing around under the caution that I had lost all brakes in the car,” he explained. “The car was getting tight in the center of the corner after that, but we were still able to hold on to third pretty comfortably.”

Martin’s sixth to third advancement earned him enough points to make the feature redraw, where he’d draw the five to start on the inside of the third row for the 25-lap feature.

“It was kind of a scramble to get the car back together to run the feature after the brake caliper came off during the heat, but the guys were able to get it figured out and throw a setup on the car before we headed out,” he said. “They didn’t prep the track as much as I thought they would, but that helped me make my decision to commit to the top. After getting shuffled back early to ninth or tenth, I finally moved up and got comfortable up high.”

Martin’s move to the high side proved to be the right decision as he raced his way up to sixth before the caution waved with nine laps to go. Martin would ride out the final nine laps in sixth finishing one spot shy of his first top-five finish this season.

“I really feel like me, the car and the team are better than we’ve been all year. I feel good driving the car, and I know if I would have had brakes I could have made some moves and run in the top-five,” he said. “I have to thank Steve Stone for the opportunity to run the 57 this year, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do at the remaining four races.”

Martin returns to the Streaker Racing 20az Micro Sprint this weekend at Canyon Speedway Park.

Jarrett Martin would like to thank Steve Stone Racing, Torco Race Fuels, Macenzie Motorsports, Southwest T-Shirt Company, The Race Shack, Paint by Steve, and J&J Auto Racing for their continued support.
