USAC SPRINT CARS TO COMPETE DURING GOLD CUP WEEKEND

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (October 10, 2010) – The newly formed USAC Western Classic Racing Series has announced that it will compete at both Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway in 2011 in agreement made with Handy Racing Promotions on Friday.

The USAC Western Classic Racing Series will incorporate both sprint cars and midgets in its 2011 campaign on dirt and asphalt. The series is being promoted as a “Tribute to NARC” with all races honoring a legendary member of the Northern California racing community.

For the sprint cars, the USAC Western Classic Racing Series is an extension of the already established “Louie Vermeil Classic” CRA event on the dirt, and the USAC Western Sprint Car Series on pavement.

Highlighting the agreement is the USAC Western Classic Racing Series and CRA competing during the prestigious Gold Cup Race of Champions on Thursday, September 8, 2011. The event will take place just one week after the “Louie Vermeil Classic” at Calistoga Speedway and will be a points event for both series.

In addition to the Gold Cup Race of Champions date, the USAC Western Classic Racing Series will compete in additional events at the Silver Dollar Speedway and Placerville Speedway. The schedule is to be announced at a later date.

These races represent a tremendous opportunity for race fans to see traditional sprint cars at these historic venues. United States Auto Club races have not been held at Silver Dollar Speedway since 1996.
