Elbridge, NY—October 7, 2010—The battle for the 2010 World of Outlaws championship rages on this week as the series returns to Super DIRT Week for the second consecutive year at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge, New York on Saturday, October 9. The series has been a part of Super DIRT Week in 18 different seasons, including during the inaugural 1978 campaign.
Entering “The New Yorker 25” at the sprawling 5/8-mile, 102 separate current point leader Jason Meyers and 20-time World of Outlaws Champion Steve Kinser, with four-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz third, 111 markers back and Joey Saldana four, 115 out of the lead as the closest four-way battle in series histories continues.
Kinser has raced in 27 World of Outlaws events at Rolling Wheels dating back to 1980. Of the title contenders, he has by far had the most success at “The Fast Track,” having finished among the Top-10 in each and every one of his starts there. He has racked up 10 wins over that span with 20 Top-Five finishes with an average finish of 3.4. The native of Bloomington, Indiana finished third at Rolling Wheels last year and won back-to-back races at the track in 2007 and 2008.
Schatz has made 13 starts at Rolling Wheels in his career, with the first of those coming in 1997. He has won twice at the track and has nine Top-10 finishes with eight of those being Top-Five performances. The North Dakota native has finished on the podium in four straight races at Rolling Wheels and in six of the last seven. He had an average finish of 6.3 at the track which is second only to his teammate Kinser.
Saldana has made 11 starts in his career at Rolling Wheels, with the first of those coming in 1996. The second generation driver has eight Top-10 finishes at the track with four of those being Top-Fives as he looks for his first win at “The Fast Track.” He has finished ninth or better in four consecutive races at Rolling Wheels and in his career has an average finish of 7.5 at the track, which is the largest on the World of Outlaws circuit.
Meyers has made seven starts at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park dating back to 2001. He has five Top-10 finishes with three of those being Top-Fives, including a runner-up finish at the track in 2008. The native of Clovis, California was fifth at Rolling Wheels last season and has finished seventh or better in four straight starts at the sprawling 5/8-mile.
