Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 5, 2018) – Trey Starks posted his first top 10 of the season during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action last Saturday at Skagit Speedway.

It was his strongest night during a four-race swing through his home state of Washington.

The action began on Friday as Starks teamed up with Wheatley Motorsports to invade the high-banked bullring in Alger for the Outlaw Energy Showdown. He qualified seventh quickest, but an eighth-place result in a heat race relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. Starks won the race to transfer into the back of the main event. He capped the night by placing 18th in the A Main.

Starks returned to the track on Saturday and improved his results across the board, qualifying fifth quickest, winning a heat race, placing sixth in the dash and finishing eighth in the main event. It was his best result of the season with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’

“It was great to have a consistent night from start to finish,” he said. “Qualifying well really set us up for success and we capitalized. It was a good feeling to run inside the top 10 all night.”

Starks piloted a sprint car for Doug Rutz on Sunday during a Summer Thunder Sprint Series event at Grays Harbor Raceway. However, it was a rough night as mechanical problems plagued the team. Starks didn’t get a hot lap session and he was unable to finish the heat race and the main event.

His final race of the year in his home state came on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway with the World of Outlaws. Starks timed the Wheatley Motorsports ride in 21st quickest and he placed seventh in a heat race before closing the competition by advancing from 21st to 18th in the A Main.

“We went out late to qualify and really struggled with the track slowing down,” he said. “That buried us in the heat and the main event. It was just tough to make anything happen all night. Overall, it certainly wasn’t the weekend we expected, but I want to thank the Wheatley Family and Doug Rutz for the opportunities.”

Starks has one more race in the Northwest on Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., with the World of Outlaws.

He will return to the Gobrecht Motorsports sprint car this Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., during the Tuscarora 50 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
