Pursley, Woods and Laplante Claim Lucas Oil NOW600 Series Wins During East/West Showdown Opener at Red Dirt Raceway

Inside Line Promotions – MEEKER, Okla. (Sept. 1, 2018) – Daison Pursley, Jim Woods and Ryder Laplante each scored a Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by MyRacePass feature victory on Saturday evening during the first night of the East/West Showdown doubleheader at Red Dirt Raceway.

Pursley posted his second Stock Non-Wing triumph of the season to pull within 64 points of championship points leader Daniel Shaffer, who charged from 12th to third place to finish one spot behind Jace McIntosh. Jase Randolph advanced from ninth to fourth place with Brandon Jones fifth.

McIntosh and Pursley were the heat race winners.

Woods garnered his first career Winged ‘A’ Class victory with the series and he added to his lead in the championship standings. Joey Starnes ended in the runner-up position with Pursley, who is only seven points behind Woods in the standings, finishing third. McIntosh was fourth and Jones placed fifth.

Woods and Pursley each captured a heat race win.

Laplante powered to his series-best 15th career trip to Victory Lane during Restricted ‘A’ Class competition. It was his sixth triumph of the season and gives him a 10-point lead in the championship standings over Ryan Timms, who earned a second-place finish. Brant Woods rounded out the podium with Kale Drake fourth and Elizabeth Phillips fifth.

Laplante and Phillips both picked up a heat race victory.

The East/West Showdown wraps up on Sunday at Red Dirt Raceway. The front gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:15 p.m. and racing to follow.

General admission tickets are $15. High school students and younger get in free.
