Inside Line Promotions – MAGRATH, Alberta, Canada (Aug. 31, 2018) – Due to a change in the sanctioning of the 24th annual Montana Round Up this weekend at Electric City Speedway, Cody Masse has decided to forego the three-day event that was previously on his racing schedule.

An announcement was made Tuesday night by the Great Falls, Mont., track to drop sanctioning by the American Sprint Car Series for the event and for all future races at the speedway.

“Unfortunately, with the decision made by the Electric City Speedway this week to pull their ASCS sanctioning of this weekend’s races, we won’t be competing in Great Falls this weekend,” Masse said. “It’s a very unfortunate situation. But what it ultimately boils down to for us is that at the beginning of the year we made it our goal to make this our first full-time season with the ASCS Frontier Region and we’re very close to being able to achieve that goal. We’re leading the Rookie of the Year standings and we’re third in points.

“Given many factors – including the decision made by Electric City Speedway, our current engine and equipment situation, the end of the racing season and our goals we set at the start of the year – we think it’s best for our team to sit out this weekend.

“It’s really unfortunate and disappointing to lose 75 percent of the remaining races on the schedule. It’s going to be heartbreaking knowing that there are going to be sprint cars racing in Great Falls on Friday and I’m not going to be there. I love racing at Electric City. I haven’t missed a race at the track in five years. It’s just a shame that this situation turned into what it is, but we’re going to support ASCS. We’ve had a really fun time racing with the tour this year. That’s been a goal of mine for a long time and I want to make sure that I can see that out to the end.”

Masse looks forward to his final race of the year, which is Sept. 7 at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., with the ASCS Frontier Region.

“We’re looking forward to racing in Belgrade next weekend,” he said. “We always have a fun time there. It’s a great facility with great people and it will be a great way to close out our season.”
