Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (August 30, 2018) Presented by Same Day Auto Repair and D&E Supply, the Iron Man 66 will take on the quarter-mile Creek County Speedway on Saturday, September 8 with Non-Wing Sprint Cars going 66-laps for a $3,000 to win, $400 to start.
“Going 66 laps at Creek, this is going to be an endurance test for a lot of these drivers,” commented Creek County Speedway Promoter, Steve Hahn. “I know we’re excited to see how it goes now that we’ve gone from 55 laps last year to 66 in honor of the track being on Rt. 66. Danny Smith, David Stephenson, everyone involved in making this happen have been great to work with and I feel like they’ve put together a really neat event for these teams.”
Running ASCS Format with Heat and Passing Points to set the A-Feature lineup, the 66-lap affair will be made even sweeter if there is a caution or red after the completion of Lap 20. Whoever is leading can opt to the back of the field for an extra $1,000 to win, thank to Brandon Wood. The only stipulation is there must be at least 15 cars in the lineup. If the leader declines, the challenge goes to second place. If someone takes the challenge, all cars are put back on the lead lap.
Any car that wishes to compete must have an engine that complies with Creek County Speedway’s Champ Sprint rules or have a sealed IMCA RaceSaver 305. IMCA or ASCS Hoosier Right Rear must be utilized. The car must weight 1,475lbs with the driver following the race.
Along with a solid payout, the two hard-luck awards will get $100 each courtesy of Kyle James Admire, who is stationed in Afghanistan. A couple longest tow awards are up for grabs as well from Clent Southerland and Mike Sosebee worth $150 total in fuel cards. Never won a race? Dyno Services of Oklahoma will give you a Hoosier Right Rear Tire.
“I’m excited to get out there and race, but we’re going to start things right with all the kids leading the crowd in the National Anthem on the front straightaway. I feel like this is really going to be the highlight of the night,” stated Danny Smith of Same Auto Repair.
The night’s card will include Dwarf/Mod 600 as well as Modifieds.
Admission prices for Saturday, September 8 is $10 for adults. Youth 11-14 get in for $6 and kids 10 and under get into the grandstands for free. Pits are $30 (under 10 years of age is $15).
