Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 27, 2018) – Kerry Madsen captured his 21st career triumph at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday during a long night.

The program was delayed a couple of hours because of a power problem in the area. That forced track officials to scrap qualifying and go straight into heat races.

“We brought back the one car that always seems to work well there,” he said. “I didn’t mind not qualifying. I thought it mixed up the show and made it something different.”

Madsen powered the Muddy sponsored Big Game Motorsports entry from fifth to third place during a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the third row for the 25-lap main event.

“We got a really good start in the feature,” he said. “I started on the inside so I ran the bottom. I got a good run down the backstretch and right into third. I had to race Tasker (Phillips) pretty hard for a couple of laps before getting into second.”

Madsen advanced into the runner-up position only a few laps into the race.

“By the time we got to second (Brian) Brown had a straightaway lead,” he said. “We clawed it back and got close with about five laps to go when he had some sort of issue. I think we were going to challenge him, but it could have gone either way. I was sitting behind him and we were going through traffic pretty hard. I was biding my time to take the fight for the lead to him.”

Madsen took over the top spot with four laps remaining and he pulled away to score his first triumph of the season at Knoxville Raceway and his fourth victory overall.

“It was good to get a win, especially after so many close calls earlier this year,” he said. “Guy (Forbrook) and the team gave me a great car so it felt good to capitalize and pick up a win.”
