Orange Cone Causes Issues For Hafertepe At Hamilton County Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (August 23, 2018) The end result of Saturday’s performance at Hamilton County Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com was not as it started for Sam Hafertepe, Jr.

Running sixth and gunning for more, the final half of the race was hampered as Sam ended up with an orange traffic cone wedged between the left front and the frame of the Hills Racing Team No. 15h.

“It was all our guys, so making any kind of advance was tough. With the surface we had to race on, and the track having traffic cones around the bottom guys kept going down and hitting them and that was the biggest downfall. They moved the cones off the track the first three cautions, and after the last one we ended up with one stuck under our car, and drug it around until we ended up falling from sixth to last.”

Rained out the following night at Missouri State Fair Speedway, the team will return to the track for the final night of the 2018 regular season at Knoxville Raceway. Presented by Mediacom, Hafertepe will be in action with the 410cid ranks.

“We’ll run Knoxville this weekend. We’re trying to get a car built for the Canadian Nationals, so that’s the game plan.”
