Inside Line Promotions – OSKALOOSA, Iowa (Aug. 15, 2018) – Seth Bergman garnered his 18th top-10 result of the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com a week ago Tuesday during the Sage Fruit Ultimate ASCS Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Company at Southern Iowa Speedway.
The strong result also helped him close the gap in the championship standings as he is only 80 points out of the lead entering a doubleheader this weekend.
“We’ve had a great season and are focused on continuing to race for wins,” he said. “I’m not worried about points. I simply want to compete for the win each night.”
The event at Southern Iowa Speedway began with Bergman winning a heat race from the pole position. That earned a position into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 5 to start the main event on the inside of the third row.
“We didn’t have the success we wanted in the feature,” he said. “Track position is critical at a big half-mile oval like in Oskaloosa. We were able to maintain, but didn’t have the car capable of moving forward like we wanted. With that said, we don’t have a ton of laps there so it was a great night to build our notebook and learn.”
Bergman’s eighth-place run marked his 33rd total top 10 this year.
Bergman will return to action with the ASCS National Tour this Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, and Sunday at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.
“We’ve never been to Hamilton County Speedway, but I doubt anyone else has either so it should be new for everyone,” he said. “We do have a decent number of laps at Missouri State Fair Speedway and we’ve won there so that’s always a confidence booster.”
Bergman placed fifth at the half-mile oval last year and he was victorious there in 2016.
