Inside Line Promotions – WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (Aug. 14, 2018) – Joe Trenca recorded his sixth top-10 finish of the season on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway.
The Mucci Motorsports driver set quick time during his group before advancing from fourth to second place during a heat race. He then lined up on the outside of the second row in the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints A Main.
“We got right into second and battled for the lead for three or four laps,” he said. “We had a lot of cautions. We battled between the lead and third for the first 18 laps with me, Steve Poirier and Lucas Wolfe.”
Trenca was running second during a restart with only a handful of laps remaining.
“I went into turn one and I slid all the way across the track,” he said. “I think a tire sealed up on us. When we came in the tires were glazed over. We salvaged a seventh-place run.”
Trenca will shift his focus from sprint cars to making his non-wing super modified debut this Saturday at Oswego Speedway in Oswego, N.Y., where he will drive for Jason Simmons Racing. It will provide the lone test prior to the 62nd annual Budweiser International Classic 200 during Labor Day Weekend.
“I’m really excited to get back to Oswego to learn a few things,” Trenca said. “I’ll really watch what the drivers are doing. I’m glad to get some seat time before the Classic.”
