(August 13, 2018) Back in action this Saturday and Sunday, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com will take on a pair of half-mile ovals with Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa on August 18, and the famed Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo. on August 19.
Just off Southern Iowa Sprint Week, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. continues to lead the 2018 championship standings by 80 points over Seth Bergman with Blake Hahn closing back to within 103 markers. Wayne Johnson in fourth is trailed by Johnny Herrera, who moved back into the top-five following the Ultimate Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway.
Matt Covington holds sixth with Skylar Gee, Scott Bogucki, Travis Rilat, and Chris Martin rounding out the top ten in driver standings.
The oldest speedway in the state of Iowa, Hamilton County Speedway is slated to become the sixth Iowa oval to see competition with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com since 1996.
Featuring weekly USRA competition, Saturday, August 18 is presented by Seneca Foundry and is the track’s Back to School night. As of now, 100 Backpacks adorned with the USRA Logo and filled with school supplies will be given away with more giveaways and raffles to come.
USRA classes in competition with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com include Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars, Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods, Diamond in the Rough USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners.
Saturday, August 18 is $3,000 to win and opens at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are on sale by calling (515) 832-6000 and are $20 if purchased in advance. Day of race price is $25 for adults. Young 12-16 get in for $10 and kids 11 and under get in the grandstands for free. On to Missouri State Fair Speedway for $5,000 to win on Sunday, August 19, it’s a night of food, fun, and dirt track racing for the final night of the 2018 Missouri State Fair. Joined by ULMA Late Models and Street Stocks, the “Historic Half-Mile” saw Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in Victory Lane one year ago during the Missouri State Fair Championship. In 19 previous events, 15 drivers have claimed victory with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. joining Brian Brown, Larry Neighbors, and Ricky Logan as the only other drivers with a pair of wins.
The Sunday affair is co-sanctioned with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.
Admission at Missouri State Fair Speedway is $20 with youth 13-17 admitted for $10. Kids 6-12 get in for $5 and five and under get in free. The event is promoted by Larry McCown and Randy Combs.
