Spring Valley, MN—September 16, 2010— For the second consecutive year Sprint for a Cure is serving as the primary sponsor of the World of Outlaws event at Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota, which has been dubbed The Clash at the Creek this season. The event will take place on Saturday, September 18 at the state-of-the-art 3/8-mile, where Joey Saldana and Donny Schatz waged an epic battle late in the going last year for the $10,000 top prize, with Saldana coming out on top in what was one of the closest finishes of the season.
As part of the festivities, the Bob Buckmeier Foundation will be holding a silent auction underneath the grandstands prior to and during the first segment of the evening’s racing program. A number of items from World of Outlaws drivers and teams will be among the racing related memorabilia that will be up for auction, with all proceeds supporting Sprint For A Cure and its efforts to support families undergoing cancer treatment.
“The Bob Buckmeier Foundation’s goal is to relieve some of the monetary stress that can be involved with cancer treatment and provide support to families in need,” shared Josh Buckmeier. “We raise money through donations, silent auctions, and fundraisers. Since the Bob Buckmeier Foundation started in 2005, we have been able to assist over 40 families.”
The Bob Buckmeier Foundation was formed in 2005, a year after Bob passed away from brain cancer, to help keep his memory alive, as well as to pass along his kindness and generosity to others and share his love for sprint car racing.
