Inside Line Promotions – MASON CITY, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2018) – Travis Rilat enters the 28th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank on the heels of another top-10 result last weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.
The BDS Motorsports driver invaded Mason City Motor Speedway on Sunday when an early heat race incident cost him.
“I got a really good start in the heat, but I got called back on a start,” he said. “I didn’t think I went early, but they did. We got moved back a row. The track was high speed and there wasn’t tons of maneuverability out there.”
Rilat’s seventh-place finish in the heat race lined him up 14th in the A Main.
“We had a good car, but with the competition so tough it’s hard to move forward a ton on a track like that,” he said. “We did the best we could with the circumstances.”
Rilat gained a handful of positions to finish 10th, which was his 13th top 10 of the season with the ASCS National Tour.
Rilat and BDS Motorsports will now head to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, this weekend for the 360 Knoxville Nationals. It will be Rilat’s first time tackling the event since 2014.
“We have a strong car and have run well at Knoxville the two times we’ve been there this year,” he said. “As long as we keep doing what we’re doing we should be ok. We just need to have a little luck on our side. If we can get the car good and the driver doesn’t make any mistakes I think we can be a contender.”
Rilat finished third at the half-mile oval during his most recent 360ci winged sprint car start last month.
