Inside Line Promotions – PUEBLO, Colo. (Aug. 1, 2018) – There’s a fine line between being aggressive behind the wheel of a race car and being too timid. Zac Taylor is quickly learning how to be aggressive in a midget and it’s paying off.

Taylor scored a runner-up finish last Saturday during his first-ever appearance at Honor Speedway. He said the new track had skeptics as the track wasn’t in the best shape the first few races.

“They really worked hard on the surface the two weeks leading up to our race and the track was fantastic,” he noted.

Taylor won his heat race from the pole position and started 10th in the feature aboard Todd Henry’s mount while competing with the Lucas Oil POWRi Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association.

“I ran up to sixth and we were kind of stuck there,” Taylor said. “There was a red with about five laps to go and during the caution laps I checked out the cushion. It was one of those deals where if you were going to run up there you had to be aggressive; be on the gas and drive the car very hard. I figured I had nothing to lose so that’s what I did. I got up there and pushed the car harder.

“We were catching Keith (Rauch), but just ran out of laps. With Todd not being able to be with us it was just a friend of his that used to drive for him and me. All we did all night was put a round in the right rear for the heat and take it out for the feature. The car was fantastic.”

Taylor is fifth in the Lucas Oil POWRi Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association championship standings following the second-place finish.

He will compete in his family owned 360ci sprint car with the ASCS Frontier Region this Friday at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont., where he recorded a fifth-place finish earlier in the season.
