Akron Pizza Ranch presents Mark Lloyd Memorial Night at Park Jefferson

This Saturday night, the Park Jefferson Speedway and the Akron Pizza Ranch will host the 4th annual Mark Lloyd Memorial Race. One of the driver and fan favorites, this night of racing sees the return of the Late Model Street Stock Series, which competed at Park Jefferson from 1986 to 2001. Drivers from South East South Dakota have long supported this touring series which was a favorite of Mark Lloyd’s and many of those drivers will be in attendance.

The evening will also feature the Road the Iron Cup events for IMCA Sport Compacts and IMCA Sprint Cars. The IMCA Sport Compacts will be gunning for a top prize of $150 plus an additional $25 drawn for a driver finishing 2-5 and $25 for a driver finishing 6-24. Many eyes will be on Andrew Harris, who has garnered five victories this year and is dominating the points chase. However a number of other locals including David Bates will be hot on his path.

The IMCA Sprint cars will be having a makeup of their originally scheduled Road to the Iron Cup event from back in May. Drivers will be gunning for a top prize of $1,000 with $200 just to start the main event. Colin Smith, Dusty Ballenger and Elliot Amdahl look to battle out the point title until the end of the season.

The Lloyd family has worked hard to make this into an event, and they are raising additional funds. Please contact Austin Lloyd at a-lloyd@live.com to add money to the purse. Last year they raise over $1,000 that went directly to the racers.

For the Sport Modifieds, this Saturday is also the Aussie Pursuit race with $240 from MAD Photography and Motor Parts Central.

Racing would not be possible this weekend without the great support of the Akron Pizza Ranch. Locally owned and operated, the Akron Pizza Ranch is the official Pizza of the Park. Located at 223 Reed Street in Akron, the Akron Pizza Ranc has a wonderful lunchtime buffet and sit down or carryout pizza perfect for any evening with friends and family. Stop in and see them today, and give their Facebook page a like and comment for a chance to win free tickets to Park Jefferson at https://business.facebook.com/PizzaRanchAkron.

Gates open this Saturday at 5pm with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow. Adult tickets are $12, Seniors 70+ are $5 and children 6-16 are just $2. For more information call 712-202-5540 or go to www.parkjeff.com.
