Inside Line Promotions – ALGER, Wash. (July 31, 2018) – Robbie Price finished 10th during the finale of the Bob’s Burger and Brew Summer Nationals last Saturday night at Skagit Speedway.

It was a solid end to the weekend doubleheader that began on Friday night, when the native of Cobble Hill, B.C., started 10th and was solidly running among the top 10 when a deflating right rear tire late in the main event led him to nurse the car home in the 16th position.

Price had opened the night 12th quickest in qualifying before a fourth-place finish in a heat race and a B Main win advanced him into the feature.

“We didn’t qualify very well and didn’t heat race too well, which hurt us,” he said. “When we finished the main event the tire had about five pounds (of air) left in it. The curb was halfway decent and I was way too tight on the curb and got over it a couple of times and got freight trained. I tried to run the bottom a little bit and that wasn’t the fastest way around.”

Price, who timed in 12th quickest and placed third in a heat race on Saturday, started 15th in the finale of the Summer Nationals. Although restarts were his Achilles heel on a blazing fast track surface that was challenging to pass on, he worked his way forward to record a 10th-place finish.

“On each restart it took me a couple of laps to get my momentum going,” he explained. “We were really good once we got going, but the track was so fast on the top and that is where everyone was running. It was a little hard to pass cars because everyone was ripping the lip. You could go for a slider, but unless you were getting into the corner, you weren’t going to get it.

“I was kind of getting held up a little there. I just couldn’t maneuver the car around enough to get by. I found myself rolling out of it a little bit to kind of keep pace so I didn’t lose a bunch of ground. We were good. I just need to qualify a little better and start up front and I think we can start winning.”

Price, who picked up his first win of the season two weekends ago in a micro sprint during the Clay Cup Nationals at Deming Speedway in Deming, Wash.., is unsure when his next race will be.
