Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (July 28, 2018) Getting another one past Mother Nature, the 15th round of the 2018 Fast Five Weekly Series saw Brandon Dean garner his first win of the 2018 season in Modified competition at Creek County Speedway on Saturday night.
Eighth in the 2018 seasons standings, the win is also Brandon’s first top-five finish on the season. Winning from the ninth starting spot, the No. 17 was trailed to the finish by Joshua Tyre who advanced from 13th. Andy Morris completed the podium with point’s leader, Chad Davis in tow. From 18th, Brennon Lacy made up the top-five.
The only first-time winner on the season, the remainder of top prize earners included Danny Smith in Champ Sprints, Larry Pense in Dwarf Cars, Bobby Wolfe in the Factory Stocks, and ultimately Jerad Traster in the Mini Stocks.
For Smith, the Champ Sprint triumph is his fourth of the year. Doing so from sixth, Smith worked to the finish ahead of Bailey and Jaiden Hughes who crossed on the final two podium steps. Travis Ashwood and will Scribner complete the top-five.
Win No. 5 for Larry Pense in Dwarf Car action, Chuck Briggs, Paul York, Jason Miles, and Paul Kraseman made the top-five. Taking the win in the Factory Stocks for the third time in 2018, Bobby Wolfe rolled to the green from the right of the front row. Able to hold onto the win, Wolfe was stalked by Tommy Romine with Robert Scott making the podium. Fourth went to Calvin Lewis with Jason Davis in fifth.
After a disqualification was levied, the Mini-Stock A-Feature win went to Jerad Traster, who now has two wins on the season. Leroy Burger was credited with second with Kenny Grumadas in third. Michael Longacre and Cody McClain made up the top-five.
Creek County Speedway’s Fast Five Weekly Series of Champ Sprints, Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Factory Stocks, and Mini Stocks returns for Round 16 on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Gates open at 5:00 P.M with Hot Laps at 7:30 P.M. Races get underway at 8:00 P.M. (CT).
Admission prices are $10 for adults. Youth 11-14 get in for $6 and kids 10 and under get into the grandstands for free. Pits are $30 (under 10 years of age is $15).
