Watsonville, CA – September 10, 2010…The Ocean Speedway is pleased to announce the signing of Chevrolet of Watsonville as title sponsor for the 2011 racing season at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds based track.
“We are very happy to partner up with Chevrolet after a three-year absence at Ocean Speedway,” said track promoter John Prentice. “Chevrolet sponsored the track for eight-years, before Ocean Honda took over when Ocean sold the Chevrolet dealership to Watsonville. It’s great to know the speedway will be on solid ground for the 2011 season and we’re looking forward to it.”
Melvin Cooper, owner of Chevrolet of Watsonville, is also excited about partnering up with Ocean Speedway. “We are very excited with this opportunity to be a part of Ocean Speedway” he said. “I went to the track for the first time a few weeks back and once I saw the operation I was very impressed and decided my company could not pass up the opportunity to come on board.”
In 2011 the Camaro SS will be the official pace car of Ocean Speedway.
With a successful season so far at Ocean Speedway next year looks to be even bigger and better than ever with sponsors returning and the potential of new ones being added over the off-season.
“In our winged 360 sprint car program Taco Bravo is returning its support and R & J Landscape has also come aboard late in the 2010 races season and hoping to have a long relationship with the 4-Banger division,” said Prentice. “We will work hard over the next few months to also attract extra sponsorship for our other divisions. We also want to thank everyone involved for putting this deal with Watsonville Chevrolet so quickly together.”
Everyone involved with Ocean Speedway would like to wish the new owner of Ocean Honda the best.
