Inside Line Promotions – ABERDEEN, S.D. (July 18, 2018) – Travis Rilat is finding the consistency that the BDS Motorsports program has been seeking this summer.

The team registered a trio of top-six results during the last week to push their top-10 streak to five straight races. Rilat has netted eight top 10s in his nine races during the last month.

“We’re getting things in order,” he said. “To win you have to be consistent. It’s been working out pretty good for us the last couple of weeks.”

Rilat made his debut at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo., a week ago Wednesday during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event. A runner-up result in a heat race earned enough points to make the feature redraw. Unfortunately, Rilat pulled the highest number – eight – to start the A Main on the outside of the fourth row.

“I was running fourth for a while, but I burned the tire off and faded a bit when the track took a little rubber later on,” he said.

Rilat hung on for a sixth-place finish.

The team ventured to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday. Rilat qualified fifth quickest, maneuvered from fifth to second place in a heat race and closed the night with a third-place run in the A Main.

“We’ve run there a bunch in the past and we ran there once this season already, but it’s still important to get a few more laps there,” he said. “We were pretty good, but the two cars in front of us were faster so we have some work to do. There’s always room to grow. No one is ever where they want to be, but it’s not too bad. We have some small tweaks to make.”

This week’s action began on Monday when Rilat made his debut at Brown County Speedway with the ASCS National Tour. He finished second in a heat race to again advance into the feature redraw. This time he pulled the third-highest number – six – to start the main event on the outside of the third row.

“It was a little racy at first and we got to fourth right away,” he said. “We ended up getting another spot when Seth Bergman had a problem. Halfway through the race the track wound up taking rubber. Our car started to tighten up and I just missed the rubber one time, which allowed Sam Hafertepe Jr. by us.”

Rilat finished fourth, which was his eighth top five of the season.

He will return to action this Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series before returning to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday when he will compete in the 410ci sprint car division.
