Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 17, 2018) – Brian Brown earned his fifth top five of the season with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series last weekend during the second night of the 35th annual Kings Royal weekend at Eldora Speedway.

“We showed lots of car speed and at times we were really good,” he said. “Eldora is a different style of track even though it’s a half mile and we are good on half miles. I feel like every time we go there we learn something driving and car-wise. Our results are becoming more consistent.”

The tripleheader began on Thursday when Brown qualified eighth quickest in his group. He advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to lock into the 11th starting position for the main event.

“We were pretty decent all night,” he said. “I fell back to 17th on the start. We didn’t get going on the inside row. We rebounded to get back to 11th to where we started. We went there with a whole different package. Every time we were on the track we were learning about it. Thursday was a good tune up for Friday.”

That showed as Brown improved his results throughout Friday, qualifying third quickest in his group before he won both a heat race and the dash to garner the pole position for the 30-lap A Main.

“We had a really good car that didn’t have to lean against the cushion,” he said. “Even when Donny (Schatz) went by we stayed in second and within a half straightaway until the last 10 laps. It seemed like when I got my wing back to keep the drive in the car we didn’t have the forward drive and we slid to fourth at the end. Overall, I was very happy with a top five.”

Brown led the first nine laps before finishing fourth, which was his fifth top five of the season with the World of Outlaws and 17th top five overall.

That led into the Kings Royal finale on Saturday, when Brown went out late during qualifying out of the 50-plus drivers.

“The format is obviously different,” he said. “If you can be 25th to 30th quickest that puts you on the front row of a heat. We didn’t do our job qualifying and it buried us. In the C Main and the Last Chance Showdown it was the best car we had at Eldora. We could go wherever they weren’t and charge through there. We needed another caution or two to make it interesting to see if we could get through there for a transfer.”

Brown qualified 38th quickest, which missed the heat race inversion. He then won the C Main and powered from 19th to ninth in the Last Chance Showdown, which was only five positions shy of making the $50,000-to-win A Main.

“Even though our results didn’t show as good as our car was it was still a fun weekend,” he said. “There’s a lot of big races on the horizon. We need to concentrate on that.”

Brown will return to action this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, where he has seven feature victories this season.
