Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 16, 2018) – Jason Sides is in the heat of the summer as the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule has ramped up.

Sides raced four times in Ohio last week, culminating with one of sprint car racing’s biggest events – the 35th annual Kings Royal.

“Qualifying is probably the biggest factor on whether you will have a great night,” he said. “We didn’t have a great qualifying effort for the first three nights last week, but we laid down a great lap on Saturday during the Kings Royal.”

Qualifying buried Sides last Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica during the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic. He produced a better time on Thursday at Eldora Speedway during the opening night of the Kings Royal weekend.

Sides timed in ninth quickest in his group and finished fifth in a heat race to lock into the A Main. He capped the night with a 19th-place result in the feature.

A 12th-place qualifying performance in his group and a sixth-place heat race run led to a 10th-place result in the Last Chance Showdown on Friday at Eldora Speedway.

However, it all turned around on Saturday during the final night of the Kings Royal. Sides qualified third quickest out of more than 50 competitors at the half-mile oval. He was unable to secure a lock-in position to the $50,000-to-win main event through a heat race, but since he was the fastest qualifier to miss a lock-in position he was awarded the 19th starting position into the 40-lap race.

“We qualified too well for the heats, but it worked out because it was a great enough time overall,” he said. “It’s great to make the Kings Royal A Main. However, it’s tough when you’re starting so far back.”

Sides capped the event with a 20th-place result. His A Main start was his seventh in the last 10 years.

The hectic schedule continues this week as Sides will compete on Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., during the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup; on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., during the Gettysburg Clash; and on Friday and Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., during the Summer Nationals with the World of Outlaws.
