CG Motorsports Glenpool, Ok. (July 13th, 2018) Matt Covington and team close a week of racing that produced two solid top-ten runs in addition to the year’s second victory at the Grizzly Nationals last Friday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
Matt was able to grab the win during the Grizzly Nationals preliminary night, followed by a fourth-place on Saturday. Wednesday night at Gillette Thunder Speedway, Covington was able to secure a tenth place finish.
“It was nice to get our second win of the year,” stated Matt. “The whole experience with “Adam the Grizzly Bear” is something I won’t forget and probably the coolest victory lane celebration I’ve ever been a part of. We were lucky to get that one with the tire situation and not getting to the top early. But we did what we had to to survive the rubber and stay out front. Saturday night I was hoping for another win, but we didn’t get going until late in the race. But another top-five was a good ending to the weekend. We missed the setup at Gillette though, but still squeaked out a top-ten to close out a strong last week of racing. I think me and Mike will use this weekend to get everything cleaned up, fresh, and ready to go for the race Monday night.”
Up next for Matt and the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented is Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota, followed by a weekly race at Knoxville Raceway.
