Inside Line Promotions – BELGRADE, Mont. (July 10, 2018) – Travis Rilat recorded a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend during the Grizzly Nationals.
The BDS Motorsports pilot powered from seventh to fourth place in a heat race on both Friday and Saturday at Gallatin Speedway during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com doubleheader. On Friday, that ranked 10th in overall points and lined Rilat up on the outside of the fifth row for the A Main.
“The track took rubber a few laps into the race so passing was at a premium,” he said. “At that point you’re trying to be in position to capitalize if someone makes a mistake without being overaggressive and hurting your tires. We were able to survive it and gained a couple of positions when others had tire problems.”
Rilat maneuvered to a seventh-place result.
His heat race performance on Saturday started him on the inside of the seventh row for the main event.
“The track was raceable for longer, but it ended up taking some rubber toward the top,” he said. “We had a good car and made the most of the circumstances to come away with another top 10.”
Rilat charged from 13th to a sixth-place finish, which was tied for the second-most cars passed in the feature. It was also his 10th top 10 of the season during ASCS National Tour competition.
The next ASCS National Tour event is Wednesday at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo.
