Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Last weekend was mission accomplished for Greg Wilson, who made progress throughout the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws at Knoxville Raceway.

“I haven’t really raced there all that much,” he said. “I’d go for the (Knoxville) Nationals and that’s about it. We got a new car from DRC last week and got it built. The first night we were sorting out new car stuff. It was good to take a provisional on Friday. I went the opposite way (on the setup) for Saturday and we were a lot better.”

Wilson took advantage of the laps on Friday and he put that knowledge to use on Saturday, when he qualified sixth quickest in his group to kick off the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show.

“We timed in good,” he said. “What we did to time good we may not be able to race on, but we got better in the B Main. The more we went on the more I got comfortable. At the end of the race I felt like we had a good race car. I was pretty happy the way the weekend went as far as progressing.”

Wilson maneuvered from fourth to second place in the Last Chance Showdown before he capped the weekend by rallying from 22nd to 15th in the A Main.

The positive run along with learning outside of the race car has added excitement for Wilson.

“I spent a lot of time in the middle of turns one and two watching the cars and the drivers,” he said. “There’s an art to racing at Knoxville. It’s a different beast compared to what we normally race on. I’m excited to go back for the Knoxville Nationals (in August) now.”

Wilson returns to action this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.

“The last few years when we went to Cedar Lake we had competitive race cars through the middle of the show,” he said. “It should fit everything we’re doing with our race car and the push we’re making. If we can get qualified I think we’ll have a good weekend.”
