Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Kerry Madsen recorded a top five on Friday and a top 10 Saturday during the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws at Knoxville Raceway.
The Big Game Motorsports driver set quick time in his group and won a heat race from the pole position to kick off the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader on Friday. Unfortunately, Madsen pulled the highest number – eight – during the dash redraw to start the dash on the outside of the fourth row.
Madsen gained a position in the dash before he maneuvered from seventh to a fourth-place run in the A Main.
“We probably underachieved,” he said. “We were having a good run on Friday and had some sort of an issue and lost power. It lost about 50 percent of its power with about eight laps to go. To hang on for a top five is pretty good actually. Without the power issue I think we were a podium car.”
Madsen guided the Muddy sponsored team to a fourth-place result.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at the half-mile oval, where Madsen timed in seventh quickest in his group, advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race and capped the night with a 10th-place outing in the main event.
“We weren’t very good in the A Main to be honest,” he said. “We didn’t have a decent restart either so it compounded itself.”
The team will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.
“You want to go there, qualify well and try to get in the dash,” he said. “If you can be around that top five at the end of the night it’s a good night.”
