Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 3, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi has a couple of races in Wisconsin on tap this weekend.
Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports backed team will tackle the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond.
“I’m excited to get back to Cedar Lake,” he said. “We’ve raced there a few times and finished sixth there during a 360 show a couple of years ago.”
Scelzi competed with the World of Outlaws last weekend at Knoxville Raceway during the Brownells Big Guns Bash with the World of Outlaws. He qualified sixth quickest in his group, placed sixth in a heat race and won the Last Chance Showdown on Friday to earn a spot into the main event.
“We qualified well, but a bad start in the heat race got us behind the eight ball,” he said. “We were good in clean air in the Last Chance Showdown so we transferred into the show, but were buried in dirty air the entire race.”
He capped the night with a 21st-place result. Scelzi returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday when he timed in 15th quickest in his group, maneuvered from eighth to sixth place in a heat race and advanced from ninth to sixth place in the Last Chance Showdown to miss a spot into the A Main by only two positions.
“Qualifying is so important with the World of Outlaws,” he said. “We dug ourselves a bit of a hole and it was too much to overcome. The great thing about racing is that we get to go back out there again soon and take another shot at it.”
