Masse Excited to Tackle Grizzly Nationals With ASCS National Tour

Inside Line Promotions – MAGRATH, Alberta, Canada (July 3, 2018) – Cody Masse is eagerly anticipating competing in this weekend’s Grizzly Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont.

“I’m really excited,” he said. “This is our biggest race of the year. It’s the event I have circled on my calendar and look forward to all year long. It’s a privilege and an honor to race with the National Tour. It’s a neat experience and never gets old to be able to race against some of the guys you looked up to when you were growing up.”

Masse hopes to continue improving over his previous Grizzly Nationals finishes.

“I missed the feature both nights when I raced my first Grizzly Nationals in 2016,” he said. “Last year there were 34 cars. On the first night, I got wrecked on the first lap of the heat race and didn’t transfer out of the B Main. Saturday night I went from 10th to third in the B Main and made the A Main for the first time ever with the National Tour. We finished 18th.

“Our priority each night is to qualify for the A Main. It’s a pretty stacked field. It’s not only the national guys, but a lot of other top drivers, too. The shows obviously pay more than our regional shows, but if you don’t qualify then they become a lot worse paying than you’re used to. It’s also a pretty big deal for us point-wise for the ASCS Frontier Region. If you make the big show you have a chance to distance yourself from some of your competitors.”

Although Masse’s early season results haven’t hit what he hoped for, his performances still give reason for optimism this weekend. A recent three-weekend absence from racing provided a learning experience that can hopefully be applied to improve his performance this weekend and beyond.

“We’ve had some strong race cars so far this year even though our results don’t necessarily show it,” he said. “During the recent time off we found a couple of things at the shop that we weren’t doing properly and we corrected that. I also spent a week in Washington for the Dirt Cup. I got to visit the Triple X factory and Shark Racing Engines. I also learned some things by talking to others in the pits. I think we learned things that we can apply to this weekend and hopefully have a faster race car.”
