Inside Line Promotions – NORFOLK, Neb. (June 27, 2018) – Jack Dover posted his sixth straight weekend with a podium finish thanks to a runner-up result last Saturday at Off Road Raceway.
Dover powered from third to win a heat race to open the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series event. That earned him a spot into the feature redraw and he pulled the No. 1 to start the main event on the pole.
“We dropped back a bit in the first lap or two before we found the best lane to run, which was a little higher on the track,” he said. “Then we started battling for the lead.”
Dover fell to fourth early before maneuvering into the runner-up position. He and Jody Rosenboom then put on a show for the fans during the middle of the race. The duo unofficially traded the top spot 10 times before Rosenboom got the advantage when they entered traffic.
“Momentum was key so if I’d slide him and then scrub speed he was able to power back by me and vice versa,” Dover said. “We kept trading the lead and that allowed Lee Grosz to catch us. Lee was really good on the bottom and for a lap or two when I was racing him it allowed Jody to pull away a bit.”
Dover had one last bid for the lead on a restart with seven laps remaining. He pulled to the outside of Rosenboom in turn three, but the preferred bottom lane prevailed and Dover settled for a second-place finish.
“I knew I had to get in front of him and shut the door on that restart to win the race,” he said. “We got so close and only needed another couple of feet, but Jody did a good job and held the best lane.”
The podium marked Dover’s seventh top-two result in his last nine races.
Dover is scheduled to compete this Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series and tentatively on Saturday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb.
