Inside Line Promotions – CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (June 26, 2018) – The Ohio Sprint Speedweek was a rough one for Caleb Helms, who battled a myriad of race-ending woes throughout the nine-day Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions spectacle.

Helms was involved in a crash during the opening night at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, as well as at Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, last Wednesday. A blown tire ended his night early at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, on June 17 before a power steering line broke the following night at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. Then a valve cover came loose, which caused him to lose oil on June 19 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio.

Rainouts on Thursday at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio, and Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, also hampered Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

“It really just wasn’t a good week for us,” Helms said. “I don’t want to make excuses. My guys worked really hard and I feel like we had fast race cars. We just have to put it all together.”

The best night of Ohio Sprint Speedweek came during the finale last Saturday at Atomic Speedway, where Helms qualified second in his group, placed second in a heat race and advanced from fifth to third place in a dash.

“We had the car a little too loose in the A Main,” he said. “I spent most of the race battling for a top 10 and just missed it by one. But after the way the week went it felt like a great night.”

Helms ended 11th.

He is slated to return to action this Friday at Attica Raceway Park and Saturday at Atomic Speedway.

“I really enjoy racing at both tracks and we’ve had a lot of success at both places,” he said. “Hopefully this weekend goes a little smoother than Speedweek.”
