Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 25, 2018) – Dominic Scelzi will tackle a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway this weekend.

Scelzi and his family owned, Roth Motorsports backed team are scheduled to compete on Friday and Saturday at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa. He has recorded a top-10 finish at the track during each of the last two years.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Knoxville,” he said. “It’s a great track and facility. Plus, it’s important to get more laps there before the Knoxville Nationals in August.”

Scelzi was slated to race with the World of Outlaws twice last weekend. Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, rained out on Friday and mechanical problems hampered the team at Beaver Dam Raceway during the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers on Saturday.

“We had mechanical problems all night,” he said. “It kept popping and sputtering. We changed engines for the feature and it wouldn’t start.”

Scelzi qualified 16th quickest and advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race, which lined him up 13th for the A Main. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to take the green flag.

“We weren’t running to full effect in qualifying or the heat,” he said. “We’re not sure if we’re fighting a fueling problem or what. The team is going to pull everything apart and see if they find anything. We were sure we didn’t have an engine problem. We just couldn’t define where the problem was coming from.”

In addition to focusing on remedying the race car problem, Scelzi wants to offer his thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Jason Johnson, who passed away last weekend.

“We want to send our condolences to the Johnson Family and the crew,” he said. “It was a tough set of circumstances. In a time like this I don’t think anyone is too excited to get back at it, but we’ll show up to Knoxville and race like we’re all used to. We continue to think about the Johnson Family, crew and friends.”
