Jody Rosenboom made history with his victory Saturday night at Off Road Speedway. The victory at the Norfolk, Nebraska, raceway is the first for a non-Nebraska driver to win in the cornhusker state during an event co-sanctioned between the Property Solutions of America Midwest Sprint Touring Series and Carpteland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank.
Jack Dover traded the lead with Rosenboom numerous times during Saturday’s slide job festival, and finished in the runner-up position. Previously, Dover had won all co-sanctioned events in Nebraska taking 2016 wins at I-80 Speedway and the 2017 victory at Off Road Speedway.
Autoland Hard Charger
Taylor Forbes needed every bit of the qualifying just to make the A-feature at Off Road Speedway. The Nebraska native who now calls Harrisburg, South Dakota, his home finished sixth in his heat race. That put the Willow Run Farms in the B-main. Fortunately for Forbes, he was able to finish fourth, the final transfer position, and earn a starting spot in the main event.
Forbes lined up in position 20 for the start of the 25 lap main event. At the time of the checkered, his night had turned around with a solid finish of 13th place. That earned him the Autoland Hard Charger Award and the $100 bonus that goes with it.
John Klabunde also transferred from the B-feature and gained seven positions in the main. Finishing tenth earned him the Speedway Motors Hard Charger award which is given out by the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank.
A Plus Towing & Repair Hard Luck Award
The night looked promising for Eric Lutz. The 2015 MSTS champion stormed through traffic in his heat race earning a second place finish from his fourth row start. The driver of the Jeremy Scadden Construction #6 was the top point earner entering the feature event where he drew a row three starting position. However, the drop of the green flag is when the hard luck struck. Lutz flipped violently down the back stretch. Lutz was able to walk away unharmed but the promising night was soured.
Up Next
Both MSTS and Nebraska 360s return to action together this Friday at the $3,000 to win event at Jackson Motorplex. The two tours then compete together at Wagner’s Speedway Fort Randall Casino Double Down Showdown July 6-7.
The sprint tours return to Off Road Speedway on August 18.
