Covington Focused to Rebound at Dirt Cup After Sub-par Speedweek

CG Motorsports- Glenpool, Ok. (June 20, 2018) Matt Covington heads northwest after a sub-par ASCS National Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.

Covington demonstrated speed but was also hampered by some uncontrollable circumstances. Matt achieved one podium and four top-10s during the annual summer speedweek, along with two other finishes well outside the top-10.

“It was a disappointing speedweek,” stated Matt. “The car was fast all week and we were competitive, but we had nothing to show for it. We missed the setup at Lubbock. We were able to rebound and grab a podium and 2nd at Amarillo though. But we struggled again early at Devil’s Bowl, resulting a 10th place finish after starting 16th, burying us in speedweek points. At Lawton, I got caught up in a crash because I had no where to go, giving us a DNF. We didn’t have much better luck at Creek either. But we salvaged a 6th place run at Salina, ending speedweek on a decent note. Need to thank Mike and Jerry for all their hard work and late nights during speedweek. It wouldn’t have been possible without them. With the points situation, and the way everything has went so far this year, our goal is to just run up front, go for the wins and not worry about the rest.”

Matt and his CG Motorsports team would like to thank all partners who have helped make this 2018 season possible.
