Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (June 20, 2018) – After struggling with the handling of his car throughout the first part of the season, Chris Andrews and the Burmeister Racing Team put a new machine together and found immediate speed.

The team opened the 36th annual Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek last Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Andrews, the defending track champion, missed the front row of his heat race by one spot in qualifying and he finished where he started – fifth – in his heat, missing a lock-in spot to the A Main by one position. He capped the night with a seventh-place result in the B Main.

“This car just never took off,” he said. “We even went back to the setups we used in 2014 that were very successful. It was just a handful. We made the decision after Attica to take a night off and put a new Maxim together.”

The new car debuted on Night 3 of Ohio Sprint Speedweek at Waynesfield Raceway Park. Andrews qualified fourth quickest in his group, earning a front row starting spot in his heat race.

“The car was immediately fast and maneuverable,” he said. “We won the heat, which put us in the dash. Unfortunately, we drew the last starting position in the dash. I was able to finish fifth, which put us starting ninth in the A.”

Unfortunately, a broken rocker in the engine ended Andrews’ night early and he was credited with a 25th-place finish.

“The motor is being repaired, but I’m very happy with the new car,” he said. “It was very good and I can’t wait to race it again.”

Andrews said the team plans to rejoin Ohio Sprint Speedweek Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, and Saturday for the Speedweek finale at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio.

“I like Limaland,” he said. “It’s a fast, high-banked bullring. Atomic is the same way. I have only raced at Atomic probably three times in the past 10 years, but I’m excited to get back down there.”
