Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (June 20, 2018) – Bad luck seemed to follow Shawn Dancer as he competed in the first three nights of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

Dancer raced at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, last Friday. He qualified 10th quickest in his group, which lined him up on the outside of the fifth row for a heat race.

“Time trials are everything and I think it all came down to not being in the 410 enough this year,” he said. “We made it up to seventh in our heat race and that started us ninth in the B Main. We were passing for fifth and sixth, but a car came down on me and spun us out. It was just a racing thing. We finished 13th in the B Main.”

On Saturday Dancer took to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio. He qualified sixth in his group, which started him sixth in a heat race. Dancer gained one position to finish fifth.

“We’re still struggling at Eldora,” he said. “We keep thinking we’ve got it nailed down and then something changes. Our heat race position put us fourth in the B Main. We were passing for second when we got spun out again. We didn’t go back out and finished 18th.”

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at Waynesfield Motorsports Park, where Dancer pulled double duty and ran with the All Stars and the NRA Sprint Invaders.

“I knew I needed to get after it on Sunday,” he said. “We went out sixth for qualifying and grabbed quick time so that was awesome. We started fourth in the heat and fell back to fifth, but I thought I could have gotten back up to the front.”

Once again, Dancer was spun out and sent to the tail. He finished ninth in his heat race, but his quick time award saved him and put him on the pole of the B Main. After running third in the consolation race to garner a transfer position, Dancer started 22nd in the feature.

“The track rubbered up pretty quick,” he said. “We didn’t really go anywhere and ended up finishing 23rd. The 410 wasn’t great, but we were able to move on and have a decent run in the 360.”

Dancer qualified third quickest with the NRA Sprint Invaders. He started fourth in his heat race, but he tagged the wall and spun out while running third. After being sent to the tail of the field, Dancer quickly make his way back to the front and finished third.

“We started ninth in the A Main and by that time the track was completely rubber,” he said. “We worked our way up to fifth and that’s where we ended. All in all, it was an okay weekend. We just couldn’t seem to catch a break during some of it.”

Dancer will rejoin the All Star Ohio Sprint Speedweek this Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.
