USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma Spotlight Driver: #11Michael Tyre II
Michael has been married to Jennifer Tyre for 5 ½ yrs. now. He is currently sitting 5th in USAC/WSO Point Standings and he is only 62 points down from the leader with half the season left to go.
Q/A
Breakfast of choice? Michael tells me that it’s a Banana and some Power Aide that gets his day started off.
Favorite tracks? ¼ miles are his favorite type of track with Caney Valley Speedway being his favorite track to race on.
1st Race Car? Michael’s first race car was a Jr. Mini Stock at Creek County Speedway in 2002.
Favorite Sport other than racing? MLB Baseball
Favorite Driver? Dale Earnhardt Sr.
Why #11? He runs the #11 because the “0” was too hard to apply to the tail tank and so he went with the #11. His dad ran the #1t and Michael II just did not like running the #1 so he went with the #11.
Why Wingless Racing? Michael likes wingless racing because he can feel the car better. He feels the wing disrupts the car from what it naturally wants to do.
Car Owner: Tyre Racing.
Crew: The crew starts with his fully supportive and always encouraging wife Jennifer. Michael said that she is the most optimistic person and finds the good in any situation. Michael also says without her helping him strap in and hook up his safety gear, he would be lost. Michael said Jennifer has only missed 3 races in the 8 years he has run.
Michael Tyre Senior helps anyway possible and Michael says without him there would be no racing. Travis Ashwood helps Michael Jr. when he is racing wingless sprints and Michael Jr. helps Travis when he is racing the winged sprints. Michael says it works out well and really helps them both during the season.
