[b ELK GROVE, CA (8-4-10)] – Elk Grove's Billy Strange is geared up to return to Placerville Speedway this Saturday for one of the biggest night's at his home track for the smallest fans. Saturday is Kid's Night at Placerville Speedway and the return of the Red Hawk Championship point series for winged 360 powered sprint cars.

Currently, Strange is 11th in the Placerville Speedway championship point standings. He sits just 12-points out of the top ten. In the 10 events this season, Strange has scored three top ten finishes of the season and has claimed three preliminary heat races as well.

"We're hoping to work our way into the top ten by the end of the season, that’s a reasonable goal and I think we can do it," said Strange. "We've had a good year so far considering we have had some ignition issues and a few set backs. We're having a lot of fun and that's the important thing."

Last Saturday night, Placerville Speedway did not have sprint cars on their roster so Strange took the opportunity to travel to Marysville Raceway Park to compete in a night point race. The team looked at the opportunity to test and tune the 28x sprint car and at the same time, get some laps at a track that they have competed on just a handful of times.

In heat race competition, Strange finished in the sixth position. In the feature event he finished in the ninth position. The evening had its share of challenges as Strange adapted to the much different track surface at Marysville than he is accustomed to driving on.

"It was a wild night, kind of an obstacle course for us from the start," said Strange. "After starting 11th I got spun into the infield and the yellow didn't come out so I had to take my time to get back on the tail end of the line up. I got up to the eighth position and almost flipped over with just six laps to go. We went there to shake down the car, not wear it out so I took it a little easier after that. It was a fun night, no points to worry about"

Following Kid's Night, Strange will finish the season in the Placerville Speedway Red Hawk Championship. Next week he will race in the 410 cubic inch powered sprint car for the Golden State Challenge Series finale at Placerville. Once the Placerville Speedway season concludes the Strange Motorsports team hopes to compete in the Gold Cup Race of Champions with the World of Outlaws in Chico

Strange Motorsports has a number of marketing partners that they are thankful for. Among their supporters are QWK Racing Components, ART Enterprises, Rex Hutchison Racing Engines, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Swepco Lubricants, Pronol Race Fuels, MotoWear International, America's Tire, High Country Painting and Amerikote.
