This past week, Park Jefferson saw a new pump system at the track vandalized. The pump system, which cost thousands of dollars and man hours last fall, was designed to remove water from the track to allow for racing in the event rain. Sometime between June 2nd and June 8th, a disgruntled fan or driver destroyed the entire system.
“My father and I are completely devastated” stated owner Adam Adamson. “My dad, along with help from Tim Klooster our electrician, Rod Olson and Adam Twedt of Turner Plumbing designed a system to help increase drainage at the track. We spent thousands of dollars and man hours, and now it is all destroyed. Our goal beginning in 2014 was a seven year plan of improvements. Now all of last years work is destroyed. It will obviously limit our ability to plan for future improvements knowing that there are people out there trying to destroy everything we have tried to improve in bringing back Park Jefferson.”
Officials from the track have contacted local law enforcement and a $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who assists in the arrest of the individual or group responsible for the destruction. Any information can be emailed to adam@parkjeff.com.
As a result of the vandalism, Park Jefferson officials will be unable to drain the track. In the event of any significan rainfall the track will be forced to cancel the races at Park Jefferson.
