California's oldest newpaper is Placerville Speedway's newest sponsor

Mt. Democrat Newspaper signs on as associate sponsor of Placerville Speedway

[b PLACERVILLE, CA (8-7-10)] – The office of Handy Racing Promotions Inc. is proud to announce a newly formed partnership with the Mountain Democrat and Life Newspapers of El Dorado County. Now, California's oldest newspaper is the newest associate sponsor of Placerville Speedway, located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

"The Mountain Democrat is excited about this sponsorship of Placerville Speedway and we look forward to the rest of this season and 2011," said Richard Esposito, Publisher of the Mountain Democrat. "Our local speedway is well known throughout the state and the racing world. It's a great venue for racing and offers fans, many of whom are readers of the Mountain Democrat, exciting races week in and week out. Auto racing is a popular sport followed by our readers and we believe it is a wonderful source of entertainment locally."

The Mountain Democrat is California's oldest newspaper. It is published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and reaches over 32,000 readers per issue. Its website, www.mtdemocrat.com, is the number one website for local news in El Dorado County. Race fans can follow the events at Placerville Speedway every week by reading the Mountain Democrat and enjoying great variety of local news, sports and advertising.

The Mountain Democrat also publishes Village Life every Wednesday, serving the affluent community of El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park Life and the El Dorado County Extra.

The newly formed partnership between the Mountain Democrat and Placerville Speedway will begin next Saturday, August 14th with "Mountain Democrat Kid's Night." On this special night, all children are admitted for free to the speedway and have the opportunity to take to the track on their bicycles to compete for trophies. During intermission a new BMX Bicycle will be raffled of to one lucky child in the grandstands. The new bicycle will be sponsored by the Mountain Democrat and presented by a representative of the newspaper and track promoter Alan Handy. The evening is all part of a big weekend for kids at Placerville Speedway as the Placerville Police Department presents free tickets to all the kids at the speedway for the Hangtown Destruction Derby that takes place the following day.

The Mountain Democrat's associate sponsorship will span the remainder of this season at Placerville Speedway and will extend through the 2011 racing season. The marketing teams of both the Mountain Democrat and Placerville Speedway look forward to presenting a number of events together in the year to come.
