Howard Moore Tops Hammer Hill for First Win of 2018

Memphis, Tennessee (4/03/18) – Howard Moore visited Victory Lane for the first time in 2018 with a triumph at Tracey Clay's I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) on Saturday night in his Stinson’s Industrial #40 Senter Farms Maxim Sprint Car.

With 19 entries looking claim the win on the eve of Easter at the track known as “Hammer Hill,” Howard raced from the eighth-starting spot in his heat race to a runner-up finish, which locked him into the pole position for the feature event.

After battling early-race cautions, Howard slipped back to the second position behind Ernie Ainsworth. However, on a restart - following a red flag - Moore shot into the top spot. Once out front he never looked back on his way to claiming his first win of 2018.

"Sometimes you have those nights where everything falls into place, and you have a good night from the time that you leave for the races, until you arrive back at the shop. Saturday night was one of those nights as my team, and I brought home the checkers," Moore said. "To say that I need to thank Mr. Mike (Ward) would be an understatement. We have worked hard this week, getting the car back together to go back racing. It's so nice to have someone who I think enjoys the shop time as much as I do."

Howard concluded by noting, "Thanks to everyone who supports my team and helped me last night. Mr. Billy, Ricky Holder, and Dad did a great job having me ready to race. I am so fortunate to have assembled a team that I think is going to be great this year and hope we continue on as such."

For the upcoming weekend, Howard has his eyes set on a pair of 410 c.i. events in Illinois and Missouri. On Friday night at the Gundaker-family owned Tri-City Speedway (Pontoon Beach, Illinois) the Neal Tire and Auto Service Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) Sprint Cars will open their 2018 campaign with a $2,000-to-win event.

The next night the team plans to invade St Francois County Raceway (Farmington, Missouri) for the facilities’ season opener.
