Howard Moore Tops Star-Studded Field to Win at The Ditch
Memphis, Tennessee (6/08/18) – Howard Moore claimed one of the biggest wins of his career on Saturday night. The Tennessee racer outdueled a stellar field of competitors to park his Stinson’s Industrial #40 Senter Farms Maxim Sprint Car in Victory Lane at Riverside International Speedway during the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Speedweek finale.
"Saturday at Riverside was an incredible night for our team," Moore said. "That was a really talented field, and our car was just awesome from the time that we unloaded. I want to thank Mr. Mike Ward for all he did to help me this weekend with getting my car dialed in. The win was a collaborative win from so many people, and I'm extremely grateful to everyone who helps me. I'm really proud of what we were able to accomplish. This win is dedicated to our sponsors, our fans, and everyone who supports our team."
Howard Moore returned to action with the 22nd Anniversary United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Speedweek over the weekend.
On Friday night the team competed at Johnny Stokes' Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). With 26 entries in action, Howard finished third in his heat race to lock into the 11th-starting spot for the finale.
It was an eventful feature for the talented young pilot. He charged to the Top 5 before losing a few spots after doing a mid-race 360. Then on the final lap he lost power in turn three, which resulted in him losing another spot.
He was credited with a seventh-place finish.
Saturday night found Howard returning to the driver's seat at his home track - Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) in the USCS Speedweek finale. It would prove to be a career-night for Howard Moore and his team.
With 31 entries registered for competition Howard's night got off to a fast start with a seventh-to-third run in his heat race, which locked him into the feature redraw.
The redraw positioned Howard fourth on the starting grid for the feature. By lap 7 of the finale he had rocketed his way into the lead. He went on to lead the final 23 laps to score his second win of the year.
Sammy Swindell, Tim Crawley, Derek Hagar and Tony Stewart completed the Top-5 finishers.
