Inside Line Promotions – HEATH, Texas (June 6, 2018) – Travis Rilat is about to embark upon the busiest week of the season.
Rilat and BDS Motorsports face the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com Speedweek, which showcases six races in three states during a nine-day stretch.
“Speedweek is exhausting, but it’s always a good time,” he said. “It’s a hustle to travel, race, do maintenance and then repeat the routine the next day. A big key is to get off to a strong start and don’t get behind the eight ball. It’s not fun to play catch up during Speedweek.”
Rilat has three career ASCS National Tour Speedweek triumphs. He was victorious in 1999, 2000 and 2004 at a trio of tracks in Arkansas.
“We haven’t been able to race many Speedweek races in the last decade or so,” he said. “I’m excited for the challenge during the next week and a half.”
This year’s Speedweek begins on Friday at West Texas Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, before shifting to Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, on Saturday.
Teams will have two days off before racing on June 12 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas; June 13 at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla.; June 14 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; and June 16 at Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan.
It will mark his season debut at every track except Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where he endured mechanical woes during the ASCS National Tour season opener in March.
“We want to get off to a strong start and race for wins each night,” Rilat said. “Bryan Sundby and the guys will give me a great car so if we can avoid bad luck I think we’ll be a contender.”
