Inside Line Promotions – WILMOT, Wis. (June 4, 2018) – Jason Sides has had this week circled on the calendar since the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series schedule was released.

Sides and the Outlaws will invade Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., Thursday through Saturday for the 40th annual AGCO Jackson Nationals. The finale pays $40,000 to win and $3,000 to start, making it one of the biggest payouts of the season.

“I’m looking forward to Jackson,” he said. “I like the facility and the race track. I think Tod (Quiring) does a great job promoting it and trying to make this event bigger and bigger. We need more guys like that.”

Sides placed seventh and fifth, respectively, during the two preliminary nights last year. That locked him into the feature during the finale. He ran third early before tire woes relegated him to a 14th-place result.

He was a winner at the track in 2012 during an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event.

This week’s action begins on Tuesday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown. It will be the World of Outlaws debut at the track.

Sides and the Outlaws competed twice last weekend. The competition started on Friday at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Mich., during the Rumble in Michigan. He qualified 12th quickest and placed fourth in a heat race, which started him on the outside of the sixth row in the A Main.

“At one point I was up to sixth or seventh,” he said. “If you slowed up and hit the bottom it was good. Early on with the full fuel load it would help me stick the bottom. Late in the race we got looser and looser after the fuel burned off. I think the bottom gave up a little later in the race, too. On a couple of restarts we went backwards. We didn’t get the result we were looking for after driving up to sixth.”

Sides ended with a 12th-place result.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway for the Badger 40. Sides timed in 11th quickest. He started fourth in a heat race, but had to take evasive action to avoid a crash and that dropped him to a seventh-place finish. He won the rain-shorted Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the rear of the main event.

“After the rain came the track was wet and sticky,” he said. “We freed the car up and it wasn’t bad when I was by myself. When you’re running behind someone it’d get up on the right front. You run in there so slow on a small track like that. You get in there and if the guy in front of you is going slower you’re trying to turn and be on the brakes at the same time and it pushes up on the right front.”

Sides advanced to a 15th-place finish.
