PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to grind and fight through a tough handful of races to date in 2018, Nienhiser was finally rewarded for his efforts over the weekend as he scored wins at Lake Ozark Speedway and Jacksonville Speedway.
“It was just a great weekend,” Paul Nienhiser said. “To finally get a MOWA win at my home track of Jacksonville Speedway and to hear the crowd like that was a pretty special feeling.”
Nienhiser’s weekend kicked off on Friday night as he returned to Lake Ozark Speedway for the Spring 360 Nationals. Lining the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry up on the outside of the front row of his heat race, the Chapin, IL driver would get the jump and go on to grab the win which was huge for passing points on this night.
Moving into the redraw, Nienhiser drew the three pill which would place him in the second row for the opening night feature event. When the race came to life, Nienhiser would jump into the second spot as he then stalked race leader, Zach Daum for the next 20-laps looking for away around him.
Late in the race, Nienhiser would find a little moisture on the bottom on turn two and would take over the race lead, however a caution would negate his pass and put him back to second. The restart would see Nienhiser execute the same move and out in front he would leave the field in his wake as he carved through traffic wit precision and was able to score his first win of the season.
Locking himself into the redraw for Saturday night’s $11,000 to win feature event, Nienhiser would have a little luck on his side in the redraw as the one pill put him on the pole for the feature event.
Rolling out for the feature event on an immaculately prepared surface, Nienhiser would flex his muscle early as he jumped out to the early lead and set a very nice pace out front.
A couple of early cautions would slow Nienhiser’s pace, but one around the halfway point would be troublesome for Nienhiser.
“I felt my right rear was starting to seal over and I knew we would be in trouble during the last half of the race,” Nienhiser added.
When the racing action resumed Seth Bergman would make a move to get around Nienhiser and from there the Illinois product would slip through the Top-10 as he faded back to end his Saturday night with a ninth place finish.
With weather clearing in Illinois, Nienhiser and his team would make the trip to their home track, Jacksonville Speedway, as they were geared up to battle with the MOWA.
Timing in third quickest overall in time trials, Nienhiser would grid the field from the fourth starting spot in heat race competition. Jumping up into second on the start, lapped traffic would actually become a factor in this heat and Nienhiser would ride the rim to pick up the win.
Staying hot in his redraws over the weekend, with some help form a young fan, the four pill would put Nienhiser in the second row of the starting line up for the feature event.
As the race came to life, Nienhiser was very methodical in his moves on the short confines of the raceway. Jumping out front once the leaders got into traffic, Nienhiser would not be denied on this night. With his first ever MOWA win at this home track in his sights, Nienhiser would hit his marks and race to his second feature event of the weekend.”
“To win Friday at Ozark really set a good tone for us,” Nienhiser said. “I made a bad call in setup on Saturday night and that was disappointing but we still had really good speed, and on Sunday night it was just an all around good night with so many family and friends there, and to have the entire crew there to celebrate was awesome. We can’t enjoy it too long though because we have a short week in front of us.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timer, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Took, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.

ON TAP: Nienhiser gets back to it Wednesday night as he will take on the World of Outlaws at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, before a pair of MOWA races on Friday and Saturday at Macon and Lincoln Speedway, before another tilt with the World of Outlaws on Sunday at Wilmot.
