Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 28, 2018) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen posted his second straight podium finish last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
The Muddy sponsored team opened the action by qualifying fourth quickest overall. A run from fifth to third in a heat race ranked Madsen third in overall points entering the main event, which was inverted by eight.
“We didn’t have a great lap so third quick was better than I was expecting,” he said. “Then we went forward in the heat race so that was good.”
Madsen started the main event on the outside of the third row and he maneuvered to a third-place run. It marked his fifth podium of the season.
“The outside line didn’t go so we didn’t get a great start, but we were right there at the end as usual,” he said. “The 20 laps goes so quick and the race went non-stop from Lap 5. The cushion was tough. You had to be really careful. At the same time it was quick. I was wide open. You’re trying to push as hard as you could to catch the cars in front. When you’d get in traffic with bad air sometimes you’d bounce over it. It was pretty hectic.
“We brought a different car. We’re trying to get some runs in and a level of consistency. It’s one we ran at Mansfield last month. You want to win, but every time we hit the track we went forward. You have to be happy with that.”
The team might compete this Wednesday at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Ill., during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. If they do it will be Madsen’s debut at the track. The weekend will conclude on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.
