Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (May 28, 2018) – Brandon Hanks learned throughout his first trip to Lake Ozark Speedway last weekend during the LOS Spring 360 Sprint Nationals.

“We’ve had problems all year with handling,” he said. “No matter where we’ve gone it was the same. It was a handling issue we couldn’t get figured out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink at it and it wasn’t fixing it.”

The problem continued for Hanks on Friday during the opening night of an ASCS Warrior Region doubleheader. He finished seventh in a heat race after nearly crashing, which started him 20th in the main event.

“I got to hopping and it bent the floor pan up and the car wasn’t going wide open in the heat race,” he said. “We figured it out before the A Main and the car felt pretty good, but a couple of laps in a spark plug wire came off. It was running on seven cylinders so I pulled off.”

Hanks bounced back from the 22nd-place result the following day. He advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race to rank 12th in overall points. That started him on the outside of the sixth row for the A Main.

“Jerry (Russell) really got to looking at my car,” he said. “He found something that me and my dad didn’t see. We changed it and it was like my old car again. All the changes we’re used to making were working again.

“The car felt pretty good in the feature. The longer the race went the better I was getting. I lost a couple of spots on the start. As the race went on some guys were starting to have their tires seal over. We kept moving forward. I think we had a fifth or sixth-place car, but it came in too late. I’m just happy we fixed the car.”

Despite a lack of brakes, Hanks continued to run consistent laps as he battled for a top 10 throughout the entire race before closing with a 10th-place finish. It marked his sixth top 10 of the season.
